Partnership Workshop on Responding to GBV(2007)

Project Alert on Violence Against Women in partnership with CLEEN Foundation, with support from Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) held a two day partnership workshop on Intergraded Response to Gender Based Violence (GBV) at Lagos Travel Inn, Ikeja, Lagos State.


SOME GBVRN ACTIVITIES (2007)
Apart from meeting monthly to discuss gender-based violence related issues in the state, the Gender-Based Violence Response Network, GBVRN, also visited some place and made donations to victims of various forms of gender-based violence. These included:

Visit to the Girls Remand Home in August 2007.
The Girls’ Remand Home and Girls’ Approved School, Idi Araba, Lagos were both visited by the network members. Mrs. Gonzallo from the Social Welfare led the team of 23 members visit. The aim of the visit was for network members to familiarize themselves with the activities of the remand home,

Prison Visitation: September 2007
The Kirikiri Medium Prison for women was visited and members of the network on a fact finding mission on how the prison operates was led by Mrs.N.Onwukwe the Prison Social Welfare Officer. She led the team round the prison where they met with inmates,

Orphanage Visitation: 2007:
Two orphanages were visited by members of the network - the Heritage Home Orphanage, and the Love Home Orphanage, both based in Lagos. At the Heritage Home a set of triplets who were made motherless as a result of domestic violence (their father
