Project Alert is a non-governmental women's rights organisation set up in January 19997 to promote and protect the rights of women and young girls. The headquaters of Project Alert is in Lagos while Abuja has a branch office.
At Project Alert we seek to influence society by actively advocating for zero tolerance for all forms of violence against women / young girls.

STAFF PROFILE
Josephine EFFAH-CHUKWUMA
Executive Director
Josephine is a women’s rights activist. She holds a degree in English from the University of Calabar and a Master degree in Women and Gender Development from the University of Hague, the Netherlands. An ASHOKA fellow, she has taken several international courses in human and women rights in Africa and the United States of America facilitated by her penchant for knowledge. Her doggedness and untiring effort in Women’s human right crusade has won her several awards such as Leadership Award by the faculty of Arts students’ Association University of Calabar and Lay Apostolate Centre, Lagos among others. She is an authority and a reputable author of many books and publications on women’s rights and gender, particularly in Nigeria. She is also a resource person as she constantly delivers lectures on Gender based issue across the latitude and longitude of Nigeria. She is the founder and executive director of Project Alert on Violence Against Women in Nigeria.
Josephine is happily married with children.
She enjoys reading and listening to good music at her leisure.
Kate IBEANUSI
Programme Officer HRE
Kate 2 as formally called, holds a Master, Bachelor of Arts in Applied Anthropology and presently working on her PhD in Gender and Development. She has worked in different organizations before joining Project Alert in January 2008 as programme officer. A passion driven staff in the HRE Unit of Project Alert where she is presently carrying out various social outreaches and training programmes on Violence Against Women, targeting various segments of the society.
She is responsible for organizing training workshops and conferences, responding to current issues on violence against women (VAW), monitoring and evaluating ongoing projects. Kate has good analytical skill as well.
At her spare time, she reads, sings and loves meeting people. Kate loves working with her hands.
Louisa Ono Eikhomun
Programme Officer SSP
Louisa first came in contact with Project Alert in 2004 as a victim of domestic violence. She formally joined Project Alert in July 2006 as a research and documentation Officer where she was involved in media monitoring of report of attacks on women for documentation and publication of ‘No safe Haven’ amongst other duties.
With a degree in Educational Psychology from Edo State University, she now counsels battered women and abused girls under the Support Services Programme (SSP).
Louisa has attended national and international seminars and conferences on gender issues.
Catherine DURU
Accounts/Admin Officer
Kate is a graduate of Lagos State Polytechnic. She holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and possesses a certificate in computer and Peachtree accounting. She’s been with Project Alert since February 2001 as an Accounts Officer. Kate 1 as she’s formally called has benefited from a number of training programmes to enhance her work in Project Alert and in the course of her work (attending workshops) she has acquired basic skills in gender issues and violence against women. She’s the Account/Admin officer and her roles includes: retirement of accounts as required by funders, banking transactions, settlement of bills, preparation of yearly financial accounts for audit, preparing staff payroll and paye, involve in workshop preparations.
In her leisure, she relaxes, reads, travels and listens to music.
Chinwe OSUAGWU
Shelter Administrator
Chinwe holds a diploma in secretarial administration and computer studies. Prior to joining Project Alert as the shelter administrator, she has had up to ten years experience with different organization on managerial level. She has a deep passion for women and young children. Her role is to coordinate the activities and oversees the day-day running of the Sophia’s Place (Project Alerts Shelter). She has attended many workshops in human management. Presently, she is a children teacher in her local church. In order to improve on her skills, she’s currently running a degree program in one of the higher institutions in Nigeria.
In her leisure, she loves writing, reading, traveling and swimming.
Abiodun AMODU
Office Assistant
Biodun holds a G.C.E. ordinary level with strong aspiration to go further academically. Before joining Project Alert in 2007, Biodun had worked with Dunamis Paints Ltd as a front desk officer. He is currently the Admin/ Office Assistant in Project Alert.
In his spare time, Biodun reads and watches football.
Frank Eke
Legal Officer
Benjamin Ocholuje Odeh
Legal Officer
Benjamin holds a degree in Law from the prestigious University of Jos, plateau state after which he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He also holds a professional certificate on Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has been engaged in active legal practice since then with Frank Eke and Co the legal firm that has a retainership with Project Alert.
Ben’s interest since joining the Project Alert team has tilted towards human rights with specific interests in women and children’s rights. Typically he has been involved in prosecuting criminal cases such as Child defilement, rape, assault on women and girls, child care and welfare, he is actively involved in adopting the Alternative Dispute Resolution strategy in resolving matrimonial disputes.
Ben uses his spare time to get enough rest and also visits friends; he is married with a child.
Kayode Michael Ademuwagun LL.M, B.L
Legal Officer
Kayode attended Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife, Osun State. (Formerly University of Ife) from where he bagged both his Bachelors and Masters of Law degrees in 1993 and 2002 respectively. He was called to the Bar in 1995 as solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. He worked with Bisi Ade- Ademuwagun & Co, an indigenous firm of Barristers and solicitors where he had his pupilage.
He later joined the law firm of Frank Eke &Co where he works a senior legal counsel which is also the legal team in-charge of the legal unit of Project Alert.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and married with children.
